What's New

There will be no Monthly Meeting in June.  Our ever-popular brown bag fest of pedestrian policy ideas and action will return on Wednesday, July 16, 2008.

Unless otherwise noted, monthly general meetings for WalkSacramento are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. They are brown bag luncheon meetings from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District (SMAQMD), 777-12th Street (Corner of 12 & H Streets), 3rd floor conference rooms B and C.

Transit Master Plan- To get information or give input through a survey for Sacramento Regional Transit's Transit Master Plan go to http://www.sacrt.com/tmp/

Walk Score- A site that will give you a "walkability" score for any address you enter. The walkability scoring system has limitations as it is based primarily on how many destinations (stores, restaurants, schools, parks, etc.) are near any given location. It does not adequately take into consideration the condition of the walking environment. Also, it could give a location a low score if it is not near many destinations but may have good walking conditions for walking for fitness and health reasons.

TWITT Walks- There is a new series of weekday walks here in the Sacramento Area.  This series is known as the "Twice a Week Itinerant Two Timers" or TWITT for short (yuk yuk).  Some of the walks will have Volksmarching credit and some won't (got your Stick's Step Log?).  Click on the web site below for details and a schedule of walks
http://www.sacramentowalkingsticks.org/UpcomingEvents/TWITTSchedule.html

Walk alerts will be sent out each month, rather than for each event because there are so many.  The website will have the latest and has more information than is reasonable to send in an email, including a complete schedule.  We have walks scheduled out through April 2008 and all are different walks!
If you have questions or are willing to help out, please contact Steve or Gale Hughart at 364-5063 or hugharts@sbcglobal.net Hope you can join in on the fun,
